Your #1 narrative assistant
1 shoot, 10 narratives. Create 10x faster.
FlashCut turns long videos into short stories, not just short clips.
A 47-minute founder interview is uploaded and Get Narratives is clicked. The video slides down into the bar and comes out underneath as a stack of frames that fans out into a filmstrip of the whole shoot, FlashCut analyses it and returns six narratives, A to F, on the Narrative Discovery board, each cut to 90, 60 and 30 seconds. Opening a narrative lists its soundbites and lights up where each one sits in the footage; a different narrative or length lights up different moments. Assemble a cut joins those moments into one video, which plays.
While the video plays, the caption's floating toolbar opens the Presets library. Choosing a preset restyles every caption and closes the library. All 65 library presets are listed. Then a misheard word, underlined in amber, is clicked and retyped, and the caption is dragged up the frame. You can click any word to correct it and drag the caption yourself.

Side by side. On the left, the editor player: choosing 9:16 from the aspect-ratio menu draws a thin white frame over the full 16:9 shot of a dancer crossing a hall, dims what falls outside it, and the frame pans to keep her inside as the video plays. On the right, the vertical export of exactly what is inside the frame.
The interview plays on the left with its transcript on the right, above a filmstrip and a waveform of the same clip. The four filler words are struck out and their slices close up in the filmstrip and the waveform. Then a line is selected, B-roll is chosen from the selection menu and a clip is picked: it lands on the picture as a small white-framed box, one corner is dragged until it covers the speaker, the line stays tinted, and the clip plays for exactly as long as that line is spoken, while her voice carries on. Last, a retake sentence is selected and deleted, and that section leaves the video too, so the clip gets about four seconds shorter.

What is FlashCut?
FlashCut is an AI video editor for long-form footage. It transcribes, logs and searches a whole shoot, cuts it into several short narratives, and exports to Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro.
- Upload once: every word is transcribed and every speaker labeled.
- Search your footage by what was said, shown or felt, not just by filename.
- Get Narratives: several storylines from one shoot, each in 90-, 60- and 30-second versions. What is a narrative?
- Share narratives with a client through a password-protected review link (Pro and Studio plans).
- Export Adobe Premiere Pro XML, FCPXML, MP4 and SRT captions.
Your AI Editing Assistant for Any Video
FlashCut's multimodal AI watches, listens and reads the mood of every shot, so you can search by what was shown, said, or felt.
For documentary editors
Every story in your footage. You choose which to cut.
FlashCut transcribes hours of interviews and lays out the narratives they could support. Compare them, swap any soundbite, pull a better one from any transcript, then assemble the cut you have decided on.
From footage → transcript → soundbites → rough cut
A 47-minute interview with a marine biologist is uploaded and Get Narratives is clicked; FlashCut analyses it and returns six narratives on the Narrative Discovery board. Narrative A is opened. Add a soundbite to A opens a popup listing the footage; the interview is chosen and its transcript read, a search for "bleaching" finds matching lines across every clip, and the one picked is added to the end of the narrative. On another soundbite, Find alternative opens the transcript of the same interview at that line; a neighbouring line is picked and Use this instead swaps it in. Assemble a cut joins the narrative’s soundbites into one video, which plays.

Frequently asked questions
What is FlashCut?
FlashCut is an AI video editor for long-form footage. You upload a shoot once, and it transcribes every word, labels speakers, logs and searches each shot, then cuts the footage into several short narratives. You review them, refine with chat, and export to Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
What is a narrative in FlashCut?
A narrative is one storyline cut from your footage: a set of soundbites arranged around a single angle, available in several lengths such as 90, 60 and 30 seconds. FlashCut proposes several narratives from one shoot, so you choose a story to develop instead of starting from a single edit. Read the guide.
Which formats can FlashCut export?
FlashCut exports Adobe Premiere Pro XML and FCPXML for finishing in your editing software, a rendered MP4 video, and SRT caption files. XML and FCPXML exports reference your original footage instead of copying it, so they are near-instant and leave your source files untouched. FlashCut does not export to Avid today. See every export format.
Does FlashCut work with Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve?
Yes. Export a Premiere Pro XML and import it with File > Import. Export FCPXML and import it into DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. Both exports reference your original files, so your editor may ask you to relink media on first open. FlashCut prepares the rough cut; you finish in your editor.
Can my client review the cuts?
Yes, on the Pro and Studio plans. Share a narrative board with a password-protected link. Your client enters their name and can like or pass on each soundbite with a note, heart a whole narrative, and pick the one they prefer. Their reactions appear on your board as they come in, so feedback stays attached to the footage.
How much does FlashCut cost?
FlashCut has a free tier with 1 hour of footage and 1 video export per 14 days. Paid plans are Starter at $29 a month for 4 hours, Pro at $69 for 10 hours and Studio at $199 for 30 hours. Footage past a paid plan’s cap is billed at $11.99 per analyzed hour.
How does FlashCut differ from Descript and Eddie AI?
Descript is a text-based editor that also records, generates voices and edits audio. Eddie AI builds rough cuts and lists Avid export and agent hand-off. FlashCut is built around narratives: several short storyline cuts from one long shoot, reviewed with clients, then finished in your editor. Compare FlashCut vs Descript and FlashCut vs Eddie AI.
Does FlashCut train AI models on my footage?
No. FlashCut sends video frames and audio to Google Vertex AI, audio to AssemblyAI, and only transcripts and chat messages to its language model provider, all under enterprise terms that prohibit training on your data. FlashCut does not train models on your footage. Files are stored in Google Cloud in the US, and deleted projects are removed within 24 hours.
